New Medication Tirzepatide for Weight Loss

Tirzepatide is a ground-breaking new medication originally indicated for the treatment of diabetes. A new study in the NEJM shows its efficacy for treating weight loss. In the phase 3, double blind, randomized clinical trial, roughly 2500 adults were assigned in equal numbers to 3 doses of the drug and a placebo. The key points? So, we’ve heard about tirzepatide (read here), but there’s another drug in the process of research called retatrutide. The medication works similarly to tirzepatide, but it also acts on two other hormones that control blood sugar, per this Insider article.
